The Detroit Red Wings could be looking for another defenseman as the NHL trade deadline approaches on February 27.
Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News discusses that the Red Wings are currently switching Jakub Kindl and Mike Commodore as their sixth defensemen although both played during Wednesday’s 7-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens as Nicklas Lidstrom was out of the lineup with the flu. “Commodore is grittier and Kindl moves the puck better,” coach Mike Babcock said. “Both of them are working on their game.” While Commodore is a veteran presence, Kindl is only in his second year of NHL play and that might not be good enough for a full time role in the post season.
